A sponge mattress can go be several names. So what is a sponge mattress you ask? Quite simply, it is a mattress with a foam or memory foam material that doesn’t have uncomfortable springs. You have probably heard the commercials for Tempurpedic Beds or other memory foam mattresses. These mattresses are growing in popularity as its users rave about the good night sleep they get. A sponge mattress comes in several styles and they have a variety of different thicknesses.
There are several advantages of sponge mattresses. These
memory foam or foam mattresses as stated before do not have springs. As
a result, when you partner moves in bed or gets out of bed, you do not
feel the reaction from the spring like you would with a traditional
spring mattress. This does two things. First, you feel less movement
when your partner moves, giving you more uninterrupted sleep than you
would otherwise get. Secondly, they will not cause you to roll towards
them. Instead, you both have a foam material that your body conforms to.
Another huge advantage of a foam or sponge mattress is how
long it lasts. With a spring mattress, not only does it wear out sooner,
you can really feel the effects of it wearing out. In fact, if you
continue to sleep on a mattress that doesn’t give you the proper support
you need, it can cause back pain and can cost you sleep.
Finally, body temperature and how it plays off the mattress
is important. Because most foam mattresses are not densely packed,
instead they are made up of air pockets, this allows the sponge mattress
to be much cooler than a traditional mattress. It makes it less likely
that you will overheat at night since the mattress will adjust to your
body temperature.
If you don’t want to replace your entire mattress, you can
also get a sponge or foam pillow top for your current mattress. Although
this will not be as thick or comfortable as replacing your mattress, it
can add some additional comfort.
The great thing about these mattresses is they can be used
with just about any type of bed. From platform beds to
unique bunk
beds. From cheap loft beds to
building a Murphy bed. In fact, they also
come in several sizes like twin, double bed size, queen mattresses, and
even king. No matter what type of bedroom set you may have, there is
probably a sponge bed or memory foam mattress just for you.
